ප්‍රභාකරන්ගේ පියාගේ අවමංගල්‍ය සභාව ඇමතූ සිංහලයා පොලිස් අත්අඩංගුවේ
මේ වන විට විග්‍රමබාහු කරුණාරත්නගේ ප්‍රධාන මැතිවරණ නියෝජිතයා වන චමිල් ජයනෙත්ති ද වැල්වැටිතුරෛ පොලිසියේ සිටින බව පවසන ආචාර්ය කරුණාරත්න සිය මැතිවරණ නියෝජිතයන් මෙසේ අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීම මැතිවරණ නීති උල්ලංඝනය කිරීමක් බව පවසයි.
වේලුපිල්ලෛ මහතා වැල්වැටිතුරෛ කෝවිල් භාරකාර ප්‍රභූ පවුලකින් පැවත එන විශ්‍රාමික රජයේ සේවකයෙකි. සිය බාල පුත් වේලුපිල්ලෛ ප්‍රභාකරන්ගෙන් ඈත්ව දීර්ඝ කාලයක් දකුණු ඉන්දියාවේ සරණාගතයකු ලෙස ජීවත් වූ ඔහු සහ බිරිඳ පසුගිය සටන් විරාම කාලයේදී වන්නියට පැමිණ මල්ලාවිහි ජීවත් වූහ.
ප්‍රභාකරන්ගේ පියා වීම නම් 'චෝදනාව' හැර අන් 'වරදක්' වේලුපිල්ලෛ කර ඇති බවක් කිසිවෙක් නො පවසති. යුද්ධයේ අවසානයත් සමග අවතැන්ව පැමිණ වවුනියාවේ කඳවුරක සිටියදී අත්අඩංගුවට ගනු ලැබූ මෙම යුවල තබාගෙන සිටියේ ආරක්ෂිත අත්අඩංගුවේ බව රජය පවසයි.
ඔහුගේ දේහය ජනාධිපති අපේක්ෂක එම්.කේ. සිවාජිලිංගම්ට භාර දෙනු ලැබ ඔහු විසින්වේලුපිල්ලෛගේ උපන් ගම වන වැල්වැටිතුරෛ වෙත අවසන් කටයුතු සඳහා ගෙන යන ලදී. දහස් ගණනක් ජනයා ඔහුගේ දේහයට අවසන් ගෞරව දැක්වූ බව වාර්තා වේ.
ධර්මසිරි ලංකාපේලි අද සවස 5.30ට පමණ නිදහස් කරන ලද බව වාමාංශික පෙරමුණේ ප්‍රකාශකයෙක් පැවසීය.

ReplyDeleteCouldn't the great Wickramabahu find someone who could speak Tamil to attend the funeral on his behalf? The man wasn't arrested anyway. He was merely escorted out and then asked to give a statement before being released without charges. It's more likely that the racist Tamils were going to bash him up for speaking in Sinhala.
ReplyDeleteSecondly, Velupillai is not a "Prabhoo" or an aristocrat as this blogger claims. He's a Karaiyan caste (considered a lower caste by the Vellalahs) fisherman, originally from Malabar. Clearly the blogger is a lowly "Sinhala" Karava, and wants to become Prabhoo as well.
Mal's definition on 'Prabhoo' is different from what I mean. First of all, any caste can have this kind of village elite. They are not necessary to be aristocrats. On the other hand, Karaiyar caste is not a downtrodden community in Jaffna social strata although the Vellalas think they are a higher caste. Karaiyan are economically strong in Jaffna too as same as the Karawa caste in Sinhala society.

We gave this news prominence since, Lankapeli had stood against a taboo. Velupillai is not a criminal or an offender in any sense although he is the father of Prabakaran.
Suprabuddha is the father of Devadatta. He is also the father of Yasodhara, the wife of Siddhartha Gauthama. No one denounced Suprabuddha for being Devadatta's father. In the same way, no one denounced Yasodhara for being Devadatta's sister.
Sri Lankan media is afraid to give due respect to an innocent dead man. Lankapeli, a leader of a media trade union stood against this taboo. It is humanity.
