DID ANANDA COLLEGE PRINCIPAL VIOLATE ELECTION LAWS?

A resident of Dehiwala complained to the Election Commissioner with copies to Public Services Commission, Ministry of Education and other relevant authorities that the principal of a leading public school in Sri Lanka had actively participated in an election campaign of a candidate of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, violating election laws.

The plaintiff, W.A. Jayantha has complained that the principal of Ananda College, Colombo, S.M. Keerthirathna actively participated in a meeting held at the No. 613/8, High-Level Road, Gangodawila, Nugegoda house belonged to Isuru Samarasinghe at 6.30 p.m. on 15th June 2020 in support of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Colombo district candidate Sarath Weerasekara.
